Two things worth knowing now
It needs a paid subscription. New accounts get 20 credits free to try. That is a one-time trial and does not reset.
It sends card text to a server. When you press a button or ask a question, the card you are on goes to Nexora's server, which passes it on to the provider's server and streams the answer back. Nothing is sent while you are simply reviewing, and your collection is never uploaded. The full detail is on the privacy page.

Built for a large collection in a dense subject
Medical students, residents and doctors, who keep some of the largest and most tightly written Anki collections there are. Nexora applies SuperMemo's rules for card formulation, so a critique says “this is three facts in one card” rather than “consider revising”.

Keeping the work
A shared deck will not overwrite what you wrote
If you study from AnkiHub, the deck maintainers' version of a note gets pushed down over your copy on the next sync. That is the point of a shared deck, and it is also how an hour of careful rewriting disappears with no warning, no diff and no undo.
One press, on the card you are on
Tags the fields Nexora edits on this note. AnkiHub then keeps your version of those fields and still sends you updates to everything else. There is a button in the panel, a keyboard shortcut, and a shield button in Anki's own note editor.
FreeOr choose the fields yourself
A window listing every field on the note and whether it is protected right now. For the mnemonic you added to a field Nexora never touches, or for freezing the whole note.
FreeAutomatically, if you ask for it
A setting, off unless you turn it on, that protects whatever a write changed. It covers every write and not just Overhaul: a corrected fact is the same kind of local edit.
FreeIt re-reads the note every time
The state is never remembered. A sync, an undo, or a tag you edited by hand in the browser would all make a remembered answer wrong, and a toggle showing the wrong state invites the press that undoes your work.
FreeProtecting a field is a tag written on your own machine. No card text is sent, nothing runs on our server, and nothing is charged. The tag prefix is a setting as well, so if AnkiHub ever renames it you can fix your own collection without waiting for a release from us.

Turning your own notes into cards
Sometimes what you need is not on a card yet. It is sitting in a paragraph of your own notes, or in what you wrote down after a bad practice test.

Paste a paragraph from your own notes or a lecture and get it back as cards, in the shape your collection already uses. They arrive as a tick-list with a diff, and nothing is added until you tick it.

Why it fits
What makes the answers fit your collection
- Neighbours. It searches the rest of your collection, so a rewrite does not quietly create a near-duplicate of a card you already have. Built and stored on your own machine.
- Style matching. It measures how your cards are written, per note type, and matches them, so an edited card does not read as foreign next to its neighbours.
- Your own notes. Point it at your own reference notes and it draws on those rather than answering from memory. They are indexed once on your own machine, with no network call at all, and only the few lines that match the card travel with a request.
- Readable on your phone. The add-on cannot run on AnkiMobile or AnkiDroid, and no add-on can, but the notes it writes sync there like any others, and it can add a small block to your note type's styling that only applies on narrow screens. Your cards render identically on the desktop.
- AnkiHub-safe. It can tag the fields it edits so a later sync does not overwrite your work. How that works.

Subscribed and run out early? A top-up of 100 credits is $3, and top-up credits do not expire at the end of the month. Top-ups are for subscribers -- they are the answer to a heavy week, not an alternative to a plan.
A subscription renews automatically for the same period until you cancel it. You can cancel whenever you like, from the Account screen on this site or inside Anki, and you keep what you have paid for until the end of that period. The free trial takes no payment details and never turns into a paid plan by itself, so nothing is charged unless you choose it. Scope
What Nexora is, and what it is not
Worth stating plainly, because study software covers a lot of very different products.
- It is software you install into Anki. It works on the flashcards already in your own collection, on your own machine. You press a button on a card, and it answers about that card.
- You approve every change. Nothing is written to your collection on its own. Every edit is shown as a diff first, and nothing is saved until you accept it.
- It is not a course or a publisher. We do not sell or reproduce anyone else's teaching material, and we are not affiliated with or endorsed by any school, publisher or testing body. Anything you choose to bring to it stays on your own machine.
- It is not medical advice. It works on flashcards, and it can be confidently wrong. It does not diagnose, treat or advise anyone, it is not for clinical decisions or patient care, and it is no substitute for a textbook, a guideline or a qualified clinician. The terms say so too.
- It does not make images, video, or synthetic likenesses. It writes and edits text, inside your private collection. Nothing it produces is published, shared or distributed by us. Pronounce uses the text-to-speech voices already installed on your computer. We create no audio, and no person's voice is imitated.
- It does not decide anything about you. There is no scoring, ranking, profiling or automated assessment of the person using it.
Before you install
What you need
- Anki 2.1.50 or later on Windows, macOS or Linux.
- An internet connection when you ask Nexora something. Reviewing works offline as it always did.
- A Nexora account, which you create inside the add-on.
- No API key. The subscription covers the running costs.
Nexora is an add-on for the desktop version of Anki. It does not run on AnkiMobile or AnkiDroid, and it is not affiliated with or endorsed by Anki.
